direct utter simplicity

February 4th to March 3rd 2012

A month long practice retreat (with a two week option)

As the name suggests! What more could you want from a retreat? Just more and more of less and less. A radically uncluttered programme of simple living, meditation and silence. Lots of time to: Go Deep; Sit; Reflect; Walk; and Sit more.

Clear not just the decks, but the very ground of experience! Touch clarity and spaciousness. Draw inspiration from the well-spring of consciousness.

This is becoming a regular annual feature of life at the ecodharma centre. The gardens are quiet. The woodsheds are filled. Time to turn in and prepare for the spring to come.

Urgent, important, must do… however can we know? If we want to engage authentically and make the most of this precious life, we need to reject the agenda that is forced upon us by the habits and patterns of our everyday world. Over complication, hyper-activity, multi-multi-tasking… just drop it – all of it, as best you can, at least for now. And what’s under all the clutter? What really matters? If we are not to simply repeat the patterns and cycles of worn out ways we need to create a gap between stimulus and response, feeling and reaction. We need to find space for a deeper awareness to emerge, a space within which real choices can arise, a space in which freedom can be born. So, on this retreat we keep it simple – directly and utterly simple.

This retreat is for those with a minimum of one year of regular meditation practice. There will be opportunities for meditation interviews and additional meditation instruction can be provided for those who require it. In the initial few days we will ascertain what level of input is required by participants and set up opportunities for study as that seems helpful.

The retreat is not in complete silence throughout. However, there will be significant periods of silence each day, and a number of periods within the month of several consecutive days of silence for up to a week. We will share a few basic tasks as a retreat community.

Suggested contribution in the Dana Economy €450 to €700 (euros) for the month or €250 to €400 (euros) for two weeks. Booking priority will be given to those attending for the full month. The dates for the two week option are: 4th to 18th Feb. Make a Booking.
