the way of mindfulness

11th to 25th August 2012

A two week training for men in bringing the Dharma to life – with Dharmachari Kamalashila. The purpose of this training is to familiarise participants with the intensive practise of mindfulness as taught by the Buddha in the Pali Satipaṭṭhana Sutta.

The retreat will take place in the wild natural surroundings of ecodharma which are highly conducive to self awareness, clarity of mind and reflection. As well as meditation there will be the opportunity for one-to-one practice reviews.

The course has three phases:

  1. the theoretical basis of mindfulness. This will be studied over the first four days of the retreat
  2. discovering mindfulness in one’s personal experience. For this phase the retreat will go into full silence for about five days. There will be an emphasis on meditation practice and the practical application of the various teachings in the Satipatthana Sutta.
  1. deeper reflection and insight. This final phase of the retreat will continue in partial silence with more detailed teaching on the application of mindfulness to reflection on the Dharma. In this phase there will also be an emphasis on integrating all the teachings of the Satipatthana Sutta.
