the retreat house: cal montso

Cal Montso was originally built over 300 years ago. It is a peasant farmhouse with thick limestone walls. It was recently renovated in a simple style using local traditional building techniques and materials. With the addition of new ecological technologies it has been turned not a beautiful but small simple house ideal for retreats or courses for groups of between 4 and 14 people.

From time to time Cal Montso can be booked and rented by arrangement for retreats and workshops.

The space: The dinning area will seat up to 16 people comfortably. There is a well equipped kitchen with a gas cooker, a large lounge area, an high ceilinged entrance hallway providing an excellent meeting space, one single bedroom, two bedrooms for 2/4 people, with additional sleeping spaces available for large groups in a Mongolian yurt or camping. A large yurt on one of the terraces slightly secluded from the house provides the ideal meditation and workshop space.

Cal Montso also houses a small library of books on Buddhism, ecology and radical politics, available to all visitors.

Other facilities include: Solar water heater for washing and shower facilities, compost toilets, solar powered lighting and sockets to support laptops using auto/air 12v adaptors, an inverter to supply 220/240v is available if necessary.

Costs

The following costs are for renting Cal Montso for independent retreats and workshops.

Up to 6 people:
€300 weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning)
€630 a week

Between 6 and 12 people:
€450 weekend (Friday evening to Monday morning)
€1000 a week

We aim to keep all costs to a minimum. If your group can offer to pay more, or make an additional donation to the project please do!
